Meet the Team

David Thomas - Proprietor & Master Goldsmith 

Graduated in 1985 from the Royal College of Art with a masters degree in Arts. David has created several prestigious presentation pieces through the art of gold & silversmithing, which are now on permanent display in the Victoria & Albert Museum London. With extensive knowledge & years of experience at the bench David has also turned his hand to teaching, giving the public a small insight into the work of a goldsmith. As well as designing & making, David's flamboyant energy can also be seen preforming on stage with the Londonderry Musical Society

David McCauley - Goldsmith

David McCauley studied under the guidance of master goldsmith David Thomas for two years at Thomas School Of Jewellery after a career change.
He was consequently accepted into the prestigious Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills And Design College in Kilkenny, graduating in 2019.

In 2018 David was honoured to have his award design chosen by a panel of judges for the 2019 Talamh Smart Agriculture awards. In 2019 his jewellery range was chosen for the Kilkenny Shop project.  The range was for sale at the Kilkenny Shop, Dublin for a limited time.
In 2021 David had the great honour of having a very special one-off piece on display at the National Museum Of Ireland at an exhibition called InForm. The piece was consequently accepted into the museum as part of it’s permanent collection.

David is delighted to join the team here at Thomas Goldsmiths where his journey into jewellery first began. He is looking forward to the future as he continues to develop his designs and expand his abilities.

Ciarán Bell - Administrations/General Assistant

Ciarán joined the team with a background in music, technical support and graphic design. They'll happily help you choose your next piece of jewellery, or that perfect gift for a loved one in-store as well as advise on repairs and designs!

Caleb Reid - Horologist

Caleb is a talented horologist, helping to expand our capabilities in watch and clock servicing.

He joined the team in 2025 after his passion for timepieces and goldsmithing led him to simply asking to work shadow out of the blue! He's become an irreplaceable part of the team, with a deep knowledge and appreciation on watch and clock mechanics.

Kacie Chapman - Generał Assistant

Kacie is our newest member & General Assistant, a graduate from Heriot-Watt University with a degree in Textile Design. With a passion for art and design, she brings a creative eye and a fresh perspective to the team.

Kacie has always had a love for jewellery and is excited to develop her knowledge. Her creative background and skills will be a valuable addition to Thomas Goldsmiths.
