Apprentice Trainee Goldsmith
We are a contemporary jewellery studio specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke, one-off pieces crafted to the highest standard. Alongside our curated retail collection — featuring designers from across Europe — our core work is the creation of unique commissions and the expert servicing and remodelling of treasured pieces. We work exclusively in precious metals (platinum, gold, and silver) and precious and semi-precious stones.
We have no fixed house style. Our goldsmiths are actively encouraged to bring their own creative voice to every commission, and our reputation rests entirely on the quality of the work we produce.
**The Role**
This is a client-facing benchwork position. You will take personal ownership of commissions from first conversation to finished piece — discussing briefs, presenting sketch proposals, agreeing budgets, and either fabricating the item yourself at the bench or liaising with our CAD bureau for cast pieces. You will also carry out jewellery repairs and servicing, and all workshop staff are expected to assist with retail sales on the shop floor.
Many of our commissions involve the remodelling of existing pieces that hold deep sentimental value for our clients. Sensitivity, discretion, and excellent client communication are as important to us as technical skill.
**About You**
A degree in jewellery or a related discipline is an advantage, but not essential. We are equally happy to hear from applicants who may lack formal qualifications but bring genuine enthusiasm, a sharp eye for detail, and a commitment to producing work of the very highest quality. Full bench training will be provided, with trainees progressing to client work once competence is established.
**Important — Internship Pathway**
As no formal apprenticeship schemes currently exist for this type of work in Northern Ireland, the successful candidate will begin with a structured internship period prior to moving into full-time employment. This internship can be undertaken on either a full-time or part-time basis, and is designed to give you a thorough grounding in all aspects of the role.
If you are passionate about fine jewellery and want to develop your craft in a studio where quality is everything, we would love to hear from you.
